Trump Stopped the FDA from Trafficking Aborted Fetal Tissue for “Humanized Mice,” Documents Reveal

Unsealed documents obtained by conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch reveal that the Trump administration recently stopped a series of Obama-era contracts between the Planned Parenthood-affiliated group Advanced Bioscience Resources, Inc. (ABR) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which were being used to supply aborted baby parts for experimentation into “humanized mice (HM)”.

The contracts specified ‘fresh and never frozen’ baby parts from the first and second trimesters, totaling almost $100,000. In an email from June 28, 2017, an FDA employee whose name has been redacted inquired into ABR’s pricing of aborted fetal parts.

“I am tasked with the purchase of tissues suitable for [humanized mice] research. I would like to request a quote. Please review the Statement of Work and quote your pricing as outlined.” – FDA Employee

The FDA describes wanting “liver and thymus tissue…aged 16-24 weeks” without any diseases or “chromosomal abnormalities”. Despite public outcry regarding the ethical dilemma around using aborted baby parts for research, the FDA wants fetal tissue so it can create human-mice hybrids because of their ‘usefulness for regulatory purposes.’

“The HM are created by surgical implantation of human tissue into mice that have multiple genetic mutations that block the development of the mouse immune system at a very early stage…The absence of the mouse immune system allows the human tissues to grow and develop into functional human tissues.” – FDA, Statement of Work

Although these contracts started during Obama’s first term, they continued for almost two years into the Trump Administration before being terminated in 2018. According to the Western Journal, Donald Trump “rewrote [the] rules to limit such research” despite some of his health advisors opposing the decision.

The contracts were ended on the same day that the Department of Health and Human Services said it would conduct “an audit of all acquisitions involving human fetal tissue to ensure conformity with procurement and human fetal tissue research laws and regulations”.

The issues of fetal tissue research and human-mice experimentation are important to conservatives, who are generally against abortion. ABR has been served multiple criminal referrals by Republican Senate and House committees to investigate whether the organization illegally profited from the sale of aborted fetal tissue during its affiliation with Planned Parenthood.

“I don’t take lightly making a criminal referral, but the seeming disregard for the law by these entities has been fueled by decades of utter failure by the Justice Department to enforce it and unless there is a renewed commitment by everyone involved against commercializing the trade in aborted fetal body parts for profit, then the problem is likely to continue.” – Senator Chuck Grassley

Certain politicians and abortion advocates are upset about the decision to end the trafficking of unborn baby parts for government research, including Representative Jerry Nadler who stated that the government “must authorize this research immediately and while the ban on fetal tissue research should be lifted permanently, at the very least it must be lifted during this pandemic.”

The thought of Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups profiting from the killing of unborn babies frighteningly puts the pro-choice, pro-life debate in perspective when you realize that the same organizations which provide and advocate for abortions are rolling in cash from government grants and abortion ‘services’.

According to Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director and creator of the pro-life film Unplanned, abortion clinics now focus on strengthening the availability of abortions for profit rather than safety, sterility, and prevention, as they claim.
